Clear air and long views across the water tonight, with a useful WNW wind pushing food about and no real change in pressure. The water to cover at Zeke Lake is the shallows early and the drop later. A long productive spell runs the day. A careful, quiet approach will out-fish a busy one. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

Ontario holds Zeke Lake, in Algoma. Around the bank it is rolling bush. It measures about 25 hectares, which is a comfortable size for bank fishing. Shoreline comes to about 4.3 km, small enough to learn in a day. Nearest town is Elliot Lake, 14 km off. It is 135 km to Greater Sudbury, the nearest city. The county line is nowhere near, so one local authority covers the water.
Open data we checked carries no depth for this water. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. County-wide records name walleye, northern pike, Iowa darter, yellow perch and white sucker. The county list is broader than any single water. On Zeke Lake a short move beats a long cast.
Temperature averages peak at 18°C in July and bottom out at -12°C in January. Fishing here follows the temperature more than the calendar. The freeze runs deep into the year, with break-up near late April. Averages place the thaw at late April and the freeze at late November. September and October fish steadily right up to the freeze. Zeke Lake fishes to that pattern most years.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Access is unmapped, which usually means a farm track and a walk. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Where the road in crosses private land, ask first. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. Should this one be busy, Gusty Lake is 0.9 km off. None of that is settled for Zeke Lake in what we hold.
