Drifting cloud with decent bright gaps, with a kind W breeze on the water with the glass holding level. The water to cover at Where Lake is sheltered bays and points. A hard day on paper; the night edges the rest. Scale down and fish slowly. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Look for Where Lake in the Algoma part of Ontario. The water sits 368 metres up. Around 47 hectares of surface means several distinct areas to work. With 7.6 km or so of shoreline, boat anglers cover ground the bank cannot. Wawa sits 62 km from the bank. For a city, Greater Sudbury is 298 km off. Rules here are straightforward: one set of provincial rules.
Depth figures are not published for this one. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Open biodiversity records for Algoma list walleye, northern pike, Iowa darter and yellow perch. The county list is broader than any single water. At Where Lake the water rewards a slow, careful approach.
Climate normals give 16°C for July and -16°C for January. The fishing year opens late and shuts early. The lid usually sets by midwinter and gives way around early May. The open-water window runs from around early May to about mid November in an average year. Early summer and early autumn carry the open-water season. Plan around that when you fish Where Lake.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. There is no recorded infrastructure here; expect to find your own way in. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Season dates differ by species, so read the table. Rules for boats are stricter than rules for the bank in many places. Pickle Lake sits 2.1 km off and takes the overflow. Treat Where Lake as unsettled until someone local tells you otherwise.
