Moonlight in and out behind the cloud tonight, with a stiffish breeze from the WNW and pressure sitting still. Most of the action on Weshaygo Lake should come off structure within a cast of the bank. A long productive spell runs the day. A careful, quiet approach will out-fish a busy one. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

The Sudbury end of Ontario holds Weshaygo Lake. The water sits 439 metres up. The water covers some 89 hectares, so pick a bank rather than trying to cover it all. There is roughly 6.5 km of bank, more than one visit can cover properly. By elevation it is in the upper part of our Ontario listings. Chapleau sits 46 km from the bank. Elliot Lake follows at 126 km, then Wawa at 130 km. This one is safely inside the county line.
We hold no survey for this water; read the slope of the shoreline instead. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Species logged across Sudbury include smallmouth bass, northern pike and yellow perch. The list covers the county rather than this water alone, so treat it as a guide. Read Weshaygo Lake before you fish it and the day goes better.
July is the warm end of the year here, averaging about 17°C, while January sits near -15°C. Four clear seasons, with a proper winter at one end. Count on hard cover from midwinter, and open water from late April. The season between ice runs from about late April to mid November. Just after the ice goes and just before it returns, the fishing lifts. On Weshaygo Lake the same rules apply, with local timing.
Nothing in our records says who may fish here. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Public data shows nothing built here, so treat the whole approach as informal. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Where the road in crosses private land, ask first. Keep proof of licence with you rather than in the car. Wolotka Lake, 1.3 km away, makes the obvious fallback. The position on Weshaygo Lake is worth confirming on the day.
