Flat light and a covered sky today, with just enough S wind to ripple the surface and pressure going nowhere. Victoria Lake should fish best around inflow corners and shaded margins today. Save your energy for the night. Work the productive water thoroughly. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Within Kenora District, Ontario, you have Victoria Lake. It stands 334 metres above sea level. At about 70 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. The bank runs about 4.1 km all the way round, so one visit can cover most of it. Start from Kenora, 40 km down the road. Moose Lake is 75 km and Lac du Bonnet 86 km. It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
Our records carry no depth, so judge it from the bank. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Kenora District records list northern pike, longnose sucker and white sucker among the fish reported. Records at county level tell you what is around, not what is stocked here. Victoria Lake responds to conditions more than to tactics.
Expect July near 19°C and January near -19°C on the long-run figures. Fishing here follows the temperature more than the calendar. Ice fishing carries the winter, and the water opens about late April. Ice clears near late April and comes back about mid November in a typical year. Just after the ice goes and just before it returns, the fishing lifts. On Victoria Lake the same rules apply, with local timing.
No access rule appears in what we hold. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Nothing formal is recorded here: no ramp, no car park, no marked path. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. A landowner's word beats anything printed elsewhere. Access can change hands, so last year's answer may not hold. For a change of water, Somerville Lake is 1 km distant. For Victoria Lake in particular, ask before you travel.
