A still, cloudless night on the water, with a whisper of wind from the SSW with the barometer flat. Give the first drop-off and weed lines the first hour at Upper Beverley Lake. Plan around the stretch from night into morning. Keep moving until you find them. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

You will find Upper Beverley Lake in United Counties of Leeds and Grenville, Ontario. It sits in pine and birch country. About 6.14 sq km, so local knowledge or a boat saves a lot of walking. The shoreline runs to about 26 km, far more than one trip can cover. Few waters listed in United Counties of Leeds and Grenville are bigger. Brockville lies 32 km from the water. Beyond it, Smiths Falls at 32 km and Gananoque at 32 km. One jurisdiction covers this water end to end.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Fish documented in United Counties of Leeds and Grenville include pumpkinseed, bluegill, yellow perch, rock bass and northern pike. These are county-wide records, so not all of them will be in this water. Read Upper Beverley Lake for ten minutes before the first cast goes out.
Expect July near 20°C and January near -9°C on the long-run figures. A hard winter is normal, and the thaw brings a strong few weeks. Count on hard cover from midwinter, and open water from mid April. Averages suggest open water from about mid April through to roughly mid December. Look to early summer and the first cool weeks of autumn. Plan any trip to Upper Beverley Lake around it.
The paperwork position is blank for this one. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Nothing is mapped in the way of a ramp or car park within a short radius. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Look for a notice board at the entrance. Access can change hands, so last year's answer may not hold. Failing this one, try Lower Beverley Lake, 4.7 km away. Ask locally about Upper Beverley Lake if anything is unclear.
