Bright moon and an empty sky tonight, with a light chop building from the SSW and the barometer holding steady. Whatever swims in Green Lake should be near the first drop-off and weed lines. The forecast backs the stretch from night into morning. Ride the conditions while they last. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Ontario holds Green Lake, in United Counties of Leeds and Grenville. The bank is 95 metres above sea level. At about 45 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. You are looking at roughly 5.4 km of shoreline, with plenty of water between access points. Nearest town is Gananoque, 28 km off. Kingston is the closest city, 51 km away. The county line is nowhere near, so one local authority covers the water.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Fish documented in United Counties of Leeds and Grenville include pumpkinseed, bluegill and yellow perch. Records at county level tell you what is around, not what is stocked here. The shape of Green Lake rewards a slow walk along one bank.
Between January at about -9°C and July at about 20°C, the water has a wide range to work through. Expect a real winter and a strong spring after it. After mid April the shallows warm and the fish move up. The season between ice runs from about mid April to mid December. Spring is short and heavy here; autumn is longer and steadier. On Green Lake the same rules apply, with local timing.
No public source sets out the position on this bank. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. Nothing built is recorded close to the bank here. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Look for a notice board at the entrance. Rules for boats are stricter than rules for the bank in many places. For a change of water, Bass Lake is 2 km distant. Check the current arrangement for Green Lake.
