A crisp, open sky after dark, with a consistent blow out of the W with the glass holding level. On Twinpine Lake, work the shaded margin through bright spells first. Numbers are low everywhere; the night is the pick of them. Scale down and fish slowly. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Twinpine Lake belongs to Thunder Bay District, Ontario. Height above sea level is 270 metres. Surface area is around 66 hectares, which gives you real water without needing a boat. You are looking at roughly 7.6 km of shoreline, with plenty of water between access points. The closest town, Amethyst Harbour, is 14 km distant. Beyond it, Shuniah Township at 24 km and Current River at 28 km. No border sits close enough to matter.
Depth is unmeasured here, so let the shoreline guide you. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Fish documented in Thunder Bay District include cisco, blackfin cisco, rainbow smelt, bloater and shortjaw cisco. The list covers the county rather than this water alone, so treat it as a guide. Read Twinpine Lake before you fish it and the day goes better.
Averages move between -14°C in January and 17°C in July. Four clear seasons, with a proper winter at one end. After late April the shallows warm and the fish move up. From about late April to around late November, expect open water on the long-run figures. The first weeks of open water and the last are the ones to plan for. At Twinpine Lake the season follows that pattern closely.
Nothing we hold confirms whether access is permitted. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. No slipway, car park or made path shows up nearby in mapping, so treat access as rough. Keep the gear simple: light line, small hooks, split shot and a couple of proven lures. Where the road in crosses private land, ask first. Some ground is open by custom rather than by right, so tread carefully. Norwegian Lake, 2 km away, makes the obvious fallback. None of that is settled for Twinpine Lake in what we hold.
