A half-covered sky tonight, with a soft W wind with the barometer flat. The water to cover at Tent Lake is the seam between weed and open water. Expectations low today; if anything moves, it will be in the night. Lower the pace and stay patient. The season of moving fish: stay mobile and watch for bait.

Tent Lake stands in Sudbury, Ontario. Height above sea level is 372 metres. At roughly 8 hectares, the whole thing is within casting reach of a single walk. With about 1.8 km of edge, you can try several depths in one session. It is one of the smaller waters we list in Sudbury. Start from Capreol, 70 km down the road. Valley East is 77 km and Rayside-Balfour 84 km. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
Nothing we hold settles how deep this runs. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Records held for Sudbury cover smallmouth bass, northern pike, yellow perch, Iowa darter and walleye. The county list is broader than any single water. On Tent Lake the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
Temperature averages peak at 17°C in July and bottom out at -16°C in January. Hard water is a season in its own right here. Break-up comes around late April, and the run that follows is short and strong. Ice clears near late April and comes back about mid November in a typical year. Early summer and early autumn carry the open-water season. Tent Lake fishes to that pattern most years.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. There is no recorded infrastructure here; expect to find your own way in. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Season dates differ by species, so read the table. Where the way in crosses private ground, ask first. The nearest alternative is Gagnon Lake, 2.6 km out. Nothing here settles the position at Tent Lake for certain.
