No direct sun expected today, with a busy SSW wind on the open water with the barometer flat. The fish at Stuart Lake are likely to sit near the first drop-off and weed lines. The day peaks in the night. Cover water early, then settle where the signs are. Fish follow the bait in autumn, so find one to find the other.

Stuart Lake is a Timiskaming District water, Ontario side. Height above sea level is 353 metres. At about 31 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. Bank access stretches around 3.5 km in total. Kirkland Lake is the closest town at 36 km. Rouyn-Noranda follows at 45 km, then Englehart at 58 km. Also worth knowing: Webber Lake just 0.6 km, Shubat Lake about 1.4 km, Duralia Lake just 1.4 km, Death Lake about 1.7 km and Parysek Lake just 2.2 km. No border sits close enough to matter.
Depth remains unrecorded, so treat the first session as a survey. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Records held for Timiskaming District cover brook trout, northern pike and yellow perch. Records at county level tell you what is around, not what is stocked here. Work Stuart Lake in sections rather than trying to cover it.
The seasonal spread runs -17°C to 17°C. Winter puts a hard lid on this one. Ice fishing carries the winter, and the water opens about early May. Expect the water usable from around early May until roughly mid November. Right after break-up, and again as the nights sharpen, is when to go. That shapes the year on Stuart Lake.
The rules here are undocumented as far as public sources go. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Mapping shows no built access close by; expect to walk in from wherever you can leave the car. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Some banks are open only from a marked point. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. Failing this one, try Webber Lake, 0.6 km away. What applies at Stuart Lake may have changed since it was mapped.
