Low, flat cloud sitting over the water, with a consistent blow out of the SSW and steady pressure. Start the search at Duralia Lake along bays that hold the day's warmth. The night should out-fish the rest of the day. Push the good hours hard and rest through the dead ones. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

The Timiskaming District entry here is Duralia Lake, in Ontario. It sits at 336 metres above sea level. Small at around 8 hectares: two anglers spread out cover most of it. It is one of the smaller waters we list in Timiskaming District. For supplies, Kirkland Lake is 36 km out. After that come Rouyn-Noranda at 46 km and Englehart at 58 km. No boundary runs near, so the local rules hold throughout.
Depth is unmeasured here, so let the shoreline guide you. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Timiskaming District records list brook trout, northern pike, yellow perch and Iowa darter among the fish reported. County records show the wider picture rather than this one place. On Duralia Lake the first feature you find is usually worth a session.
July runs about 17°C on average, January about -17°C. Winter puts a hard lid on this one. The lid arrives early and lasts until roughly early May. Break-up near early May, freeze-up near mid November: that is the shape of an average year. Reckon on open water from spring through to late autumn, with May and June the strongest. On Duralia Lake that shapes the whole year.
Public sources are silent on who controls the bank. No car park, ramp or path is recorded within easy reach of the shore. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. A phone call first saves an afternoon. Where the way in crosses private ground, ask first. Failing this one, try Stuart Lake, 1.4 km away. Check the position at Duralia Lake before loading the car.
