Dull, settled light over the water, with light air out of the SSW and pressure sitting still. The fish at Splatter Lake are likely to sit near shallow cover and weed edges. The forecast backs the stretch from the day. Ride the conditions while they last. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Splatter Lake is one of the District Municipality of Muskoka waters in Ontario. The bank is 345 metres above sea level. Surface area is around 12 hectares, which gives you real water without needing a boat. The full circuit measures close to 2.6 km on foot. Supplies mean a trip to Huntsville, 24 km off. For a city, Barrie is 102 km off. The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
Depth here is unknown, so count the lead down before committing. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Records held for District Municipality of Muskoka cover pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass and northern pike. Species recorded across the county may be limited to a few waters. On Splatter Lake that means starting tight and working out.
Expect July near 18°C and January near -11°C on the long-run figures. The season turns properly here, and fish follow it closely. Firm cover through the cold months, then open water from mid April. Going by climate averages, expect open water from about mid April until roughly early December. Spring is short and heavy here; autumn is longer and steadier. The season on Splatter Lake rarely departs from it.
Public data does not answer the access question here. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Fishing from a pier is possible 1.2 km away. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Bank access can be seasonal on ground like this. Where tickets apply, they are sold in the nearest town rather than on the bank. The nearest alternative is Ridout Lake, 1.1 km out. What applies at Splatter Lake may have changed since it was mapped.
