Cloud from horizon to horizon today, with enough NNE wind to stack food downwind with a settled glass. The productive water at Rush Lake will be around windblown banks where food collects. A grinding day likely, with the night worth the effort if any is. Save the long walk for a better forecast.

Rush Lake is listed under Kenora District, Ontario. The land about it is mixed forest. It covers about 9 hectares, so this is small water you can walk round in under an hour. It is a small entry by Kenora District standards. Dryden sits 37 km from the bank. Vermilion Bay follows at 47 km, then Sioux Lookout at 62 km. No boundary runs near, so the local rules hold throughout.
Nothing we hold settles how deep this runs. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. Open biodiversity records for Kenora District list northern pike, longnose sucker, white sucker, johnny darter and logperch. These are county-wide records, so not all of them will be in this water. Read Rush Lake for ten minutes before the first cast goes out.
July runs about 18°C on average, January about -18°C. Fishing here follows the temperature more than the calendar. Expect a solid lid for months and a thaw around late April. On average, late April opens the water and mid November closes it again. The strong weeks are the first after break-up and the last before the freeze. Time your trip to Rush Lake by conditions rather than dates.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. No launch point is recorded nearby, so this is a bank water unless you carry a boat in. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Some banks are open only from a marked point. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. Fawcett Lake, 1.3 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Rules at Rush Lake are worth checking on the day.
