Passing showers with dry spells between, with a light SE breeze with the glass holding level. The fish at Rockstone Lake are likely to sit near the calm side of the wind. Everything points to the middle of the day. Give the likely spots time before moving. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Rockstone Lake lies in Thunder Bay District, in Ontario. Land around it is rolling bush. With some 14 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. Bank access stretches around 2.1 km in total. It is a small entry by Thunder Bay District standards. For supplies, Lappe is 40 km out. Then Parkdale, 42 km, and College Park, 43 km. Rules here are straightforward: one set of provincial rules.
Depth went unrecorded, which puts the reading back on you. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. County-wide records name cisco, blackfin cisco and rainbow smelt. County data is a starting point rather than a guarantee. Take Rockstone Lake a stretch at a time.
Expect July near 17°C and January near -18°C on the long-run figures. A full turn of seasons, with the strongest sport on either side of summer. The freeze runs deep into the year, with break-up near early May. On the long-run averages the water opens up around early May and starts locking again about mid November. Spring is short and heavy here; autumn is longer and steadier. It holds true on Rockstone Lake more years than not.
There is no clear statement anywhere on who can fish it. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Mapping is blank for access, so scout the approach before committing the car. Keep the gear simple: light line, small hooks, split shot and a couple of proven lures. Rules differ from one water to the next round here. Check whether bait restrictions apply before you buy any. For a change of water, Twist Lake is 4.4 km distant. None of that is settled for Rockstone Lake in what we hold.
