Cloud coming and going through the night, with a proper ripple driven from the WNW and no real change in pressure. Give the margins and the shelf beyond them the first hour at Length Lake. The forecast backs the stretch from the day. Settle in and let the day develop. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Length Lake is a Thunder Bay District water, Ontario side. The water sits 510 metres up. With some 16 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. The full circuit measures close to 2.2 km on foot. Our Thunder Bay District list holds plenty of bigger water. For supplies, Parkdale is 43 km out. Thunder Bay sits 47 km out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. The nearest boundary is a fair way off.
Nothing we hold settles how deep this runs. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Across Thunder Bay District, recorded fish include cisco, blackfin cisco, rainbow smelt, bloater and shortjaw cisco. Species recorded across the county may be limited to a few waters. Read Length Lake before you fish it and the day goes better.
The year swings from about -17°C in January to roughly 17°C in July. Seasons are distinct, and each one fishes differently. Winter locks it down, and early May brings it back. The water is typically free of ice between early May and mid November. June through September is the settled part of the year, with the shoulders busier for fish. The season on Length Lake follows the weather closely.
Public data does not answer the access question here. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. No slipway, car park or made path shows up nearby in mapping, so treat access as rough. A light spinning outfit with a small box of lures and some bait covers most of what swims here. Season dates differ by species, so read the table. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. Pete Lake at 2.8 km is the sensible second choice. Signs at Length Lake carry more weight than any list.
