Passing showers with dry spells between, with a helpful ripple pushed from the W and no real change in pressure. Most of the action on Pole Lake should come off windblown banks where food collects. A hard day on paper; the morning edges the rest. Go lighter and slower than usual. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Pole Lake is one of the Sudbury waters in Ontario. Elevation runs to 492 metres. About 3 hectares of surface, which puts the far bank inside easy sight. Our Sudbury list holds plenty of bigger water. The nearest place of any size is Chapleau, 23 km away. Then Wawa, 126 km, and Timmins, 150 km. Not far off: Longwell Lake 1.4 km, Hebden Lake the better part of 1.4 km, Daer Lake 2 km, Lackner Lake the better part of 2.9 km and Motz Lake 3 km. It sits well inside its county, with no border complications.
Depth is not on record here, so the bank has to tell you. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Open biodiversity records for Sudbury list smallmouth bass, northern pike, yellow perch and Iowa darter. These are county-wide records, so not all of them will be in this water. Fish Pole Lake to its features, not to its size.
Long-term averages put July at about 17°C and January near -16°C. The ice season is long here and the open one short. Expect a solid lid for months and a thaw around late April. The water is typically free of ice between late April and mid November. Fishing peaks soon after break-up and again before the cold returns. The season on Pole Lake rarely departs from it.
We have no record of the rules that apply on this bank. No built facilities appear in mapping around this water. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Take the rules with you rather than trusting memory. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. Longwell Lake sits 1.4 km off and takes the overflow. Nothing here settles the position at Pole Lake for certain.
