Open sky and sharp air tonight, with a steady NW wind with the glass holding level. Fish at Pluto Lake should hold close to the calm side of the wind. Block out the hours from the day. Cover water early, then settle where the signs are. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

You will find Pluto Lake in Sudbury, Ontario. Country round the bank runs to pine and birch. Around 51 hectares of surface means several distinct areas to work. You are looking at roughly 6.1 km of shoreline, with plenty of water between access points. Compared with other Ontario water on our list, it sits high. The closest town, Chapleau, is 72 km distant. The big place round here is Greater Sudbury, 189 km distant. This one is safely inside the county line.
We hold no depth figure for this one. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Species logged across Sudbury include smallmouth bass, northern pike and yellow perch. What holds for the county may not hold for this water. Pluto Lake gives up its fish to patience rather than distance.
Between January at about -14°C and July at about 17°C, the water has a wide range to work through. Cold locks it up for a good stretch each year. The open season starts with the thaw, near enough late April. Ice clears near late April and comes back about mid November in a typical year. Fishing peaks soon after break-up and again before the cold returns. Pluto Lake fishes to that pattern most years.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. There is no mapped parking or launch nearby, which keeps numbers down. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Parking is often the real limit rather than the bank itself. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. Gregory Lake, 4.1 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Treat Pluto Lake as unsettled until someone local tells you otherwise.
