A half-covered sky tonight, with a persistent wind from the WSW and steady pressure. On Gregory Lake, work shallow cover and weed edges first. If you must go, go in the evening. Save the long walk for a better forecast. Fish follow the bait in autumn, so find one to find the other.

The Algoma entry here is Gregory Lake, in Ontario. The water sits 441 metres up. Surface area is around 30 hectares, which gives you real water without needing a boat. Around 4.8 km of margin, front to back. Compared with other Ontario water on our list, it sits high. Chapleau lies 74 km from the water. Elliot Lake lies 100 km off, Thessalon another 108 km. It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
We hold no depth figure for this one. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Fish documented in Algoma include walleye, northern pike, Iowa darter, yellow perch and white sucker. Species recorded across the county may be limited to a few waters. Treat Gregory Lake as a water to read rather than to cover.
Averages here run 17°C at the top of summer and -14°C at the bottom of winter. A solid cap is the normal state through winter. Ice-out usually falls in late April, and the weeks after it fish hardest. The season between ice runs from about late April to mid November. The weeks after the thaw and the ones before the freeze are the strongest. At Gregory Lake the season follows that pattern closely.
There is no clear statement anywhere on who can fish it. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Nothing is mapped in the way of a ramp or car park within a short radius. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Parking space is the usual limit rather than the bank itself. Signs go up and come down, so check on the day. Should this one be busy, Fox Lake is 1.4 km off. None of that is settled for Gregory Lake in what we hold.
