Bright moon and an empty sky tonight, with a light chop building from the W with a settled glass. Start the search at Peller Lake along the shallows early and the drop later. The strongest window runs from afternoon into evening. Keep expectations modest and fish carefully. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

Algoma in Ontario is where Peller Lake sits. Land around it is rolling bush. It measures about 48 hectares, which is a comfortable size for bank fishing. The bank runs about 3.4 km all the way round, so one visit can cover most of it. Wawa is the closest place, 30 km off. Chapleau follows at 104 km, then Sault Ste. Marie at 138 km. The nearest boundary is a fair way off.
Open data we checked carries no depth for this water. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Survey and observation records for Algoma include walleye, northern pike, Iowa darter, yellow perch and white sucker. County records show the wider picture rather than this one place. Peller Lake repays a walk before the first cast.
Expect July near 16°C and January near -14°C on the long-run figures. A solid cap is the normal state through winter. The lid usually goes in late April, which opens the strongest weeks of the year. The open-water window runs from around late April to about mid November in an average year. Fishing peaks soon after break-up and again before the cold returns. Peller Lake runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. No car park, ramp or path is recorded within easy reach of the shore. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Check locally before you travel, because a wasted drive is a long one. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. For a change of water, Murphy Lake is 2.6 km distant. Nothing on Peller Lake should be assumed from this page alone.
