Overcast skies today, with air barely moving and steady pressure. Start the search at Peel Lake along the seam between weed and open water. If you must go, go in the night. One good spot fished well beats five fished quickly. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

Peel Lake is one of the Sudbury waters in Ontario. The surface lies 392 metres up. It runs to roughly 12 hectares — big enough to hold fish away from the bank, small enough to learn. The whole outline is near 1.6 km, and most of it is walkable. Our Sudbury list holds plenty of bigger water. The town to know is Chapleau, 55 km out. For a city, Greater Sudbury is 289 km off. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
We hold no survey for this water; read the slope of the shoreline instead. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Reported across Sudbury: smallmouth bass, northern pike, yellow perch, Iowa darter and walleye. County records show the wider picture rather than this one place. On Peel Lake that means starting tight and working out.
On the long-term average, July reads 16°C and January reads -16°C. Ice holds for a long stretch, so the open weeks matter more here than further south. Firm cover through the cold months, then open water from early May. Expect the water usable from around early May until roughly mid November. September and October fish steadily right up to the freeze. Plan around that when you fish Peel Lake.
We have no record of the rules that apply on this bank. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Mapping shows no built access close by; expect to walk in from wherever you can leave the car. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Parking is often the real limit rather than the bank itself. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. Failing this one, try Monk Lake, 2.4 km away. The position on Peel Lake is worth confirming on the day.
