Rain moving through today, with a working WSW breeze and the barometer holding steady. The water to cover at Pecors Lake is sheltered bays and points. Expectations low today; if anything moves, it will be in the evening. One good spot fished well beats five fished quickly. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Pecors Lake sits in Algoma, out in Ontario. Around the bank it is lake country bush. This is sizeable water at about 3.48 sq km, and a boat opens up most of it. Shoreline length is close to 18 km, and each section fishes a little differently. It ranks high for size among our Algoma listings. Some 13 km away sits Elliot Lake, the nearest settlement. It is 113 km to Greater Sudbury, the nearest city. It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
No depth figure has reached our records, which makes a plummet useful. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Across Algoma, recorded fish include walleye, northern pike and Iowa darter. Records at county level tell you what is around, not what is stocked here. Pecors Lake fishes better once you know its edges.
The year swings from about -11°C in January to roughly 18°C in July. Cold winters and warm summers give a wide working range. The lid usually goes in late April, which opens the strongest weeks of the year. Open water usually runs from late April until about late November. Fishing peaks soon after break-up and again before the cold returns. That is the shape of the year on Pecors Lake.
Our records carry no access rule either way. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Access points are not mapped for this water, which suits people who like quiet. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Where the road in crosses private land, ask first. A polite question at the farm gate opens more banks than anything else. Tees Lake sits 2.9 km off and takes the overflow. For Pecors Lake in particular, ask before you travel.
