Dull, settled light over the water, with a helpful ripple pushed from the SSE and no real change in pressure. The productive water at Muskie Lake will be around inflow corners and shaded margins. Expect the better fishing from night into morning. Give the likely spots time before moving.

Set in Kenora District, Ontario, this is Muskie Lake. The bank is 364 metres above sea level. The water covers around 4.88 sq km, which puts most of it out of reach from the bank. The margin runs to about 12 km in total. It ranks high for size among our Kenora District listings. Sioux Lookout is the closest town at 26 km. The big place round here is Thunder Bay, 282 km distant. It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
There is no recorded depth, so work from what you can see. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Open biodiversity records for Kenora District list northern pike, longnose sucker and white sucker. It is the county picture; the agency list is water-specific. Fish Muskie Lake where the bottom changes rather than where it looks deep.
Climate normals give 18°C for July and -18°C for January. A solid cap is the normal state through winter. Hard water holds through the cold months, breaking up near late April. Ice clears near late April and comes back about mid November in a typical year. Just after the ice goes and just before it returns, the fishing lifts. It holds true on Muskie Lake more years than not.
The access position is unclear from public sources. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. Mapping shows no built access close by; expect to walk in from wherever you can leave the car. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Rules differ from one water to the next round here. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. For a change of water, Jacobus Lake is 2.3 km distant. What applies at Muskie Lake may have changed since it was mapped.
