Heavy overcast holding through the day, with a useful SSW wind pushing food about with the barometer flat. Give reed fringes and open pockets the first hour at Cedarbough Lake. A grinding day likely, with the night worth the effort if any is. Save the long walk for a better forecast. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Kenora District in Ontario is where Cedarbough Lake sits. The bank is 364 metres above sea level. At 1.89 sq km this is proper open water rather than a pond. The margin runs to about 12 km in total. 18 km away sits Sioux Lookout, the nearest town. It is 278 km to Thunder Bay, the nearest city. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Fish documented in Kenora District include northern pike, longnose sucker, white sucker, johnny darter and logperch. County records show the wider picture rather than this one place. Take Cedarbough Lake a stretch at a time.
Typical July readings run about 18°C; by January the average is down near -18°C. Winter closes the water for a while, and the reopening is worth catching. The lid usually sets by midwinter and gives way around late April. Break-up sits around late April on average, with the water closing again about mid November. June through September is the settled part of the year, with the shoulders busier for fish. On Cedarbough Lake that shapes the whole year.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. There is no mapped parking or launch close by, which usually means walking in. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. A landowner's word beats anything printed elsewhere. Some ground is open by custom rather than by right, so tread carefully. Slough Lake, 2.7 km away, makes the obvious fallback. For Cedarbough Lake in particular, ask before you travel.
