Blue sky from bank to bank today, with a light chop building from the W and no real change in pressure. Fish at Mannajigama Lake should hold close to windblown banks where food collects. The forecast is against you; the morning is the least bad option. Treat it as a scouting trip with a rod in hand.

Look for Mannajigama Lake in the Timiskaming District part of Ontario. It lies 335 metres above sea level. About 1.05 sq km, so local knowledge or a boat saves a lot of walking. The outline measures near 14 km, so local knowledge counts. On our Timiskaming District list it sits near the top for size. The town to know is Haileybury, 32 km out. Greater Sudbury sits 116 km out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
No depth figure appears in our records, so the bank has to tell you. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Reported across Timiskaming District: brook trout, northern pike, yellow perch and Iowa darter. The county list is broader than any single water. Mannajigama Lake gives up more to patience than to distance.
July runs about 18°C on average, January about -16°C. The freeze arrives properly here and holds. Firm cover through the cold months, then open water from late April. Open water usually runs from late April until about late November. Fish feed hardest at the start and the close of the open season. The season on Mannajigama Lake follows the weather closely.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. We find no slipway, car park or made path within a short radius, so treat access as rough. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. Signs go up and come down, so check on the day. Snare Lake, 1.2 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Rules at Mannajigama Lake are worth checking on the day.
