Sun coming and going behind the cloud today, with a faint NW drift with the barometer flat. Most of the action on Lovedee Lake should come off the weed line and any gaps in it. A steady middling day from end to end. Change depth before you change anything else. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Lovedee Lake belongs to Algoma, Ontario. The surface lies 401 metres up. With some 96 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. With 13 km or so of shoreline, boat anglers cover ground the bank cannot. Size puts it in the front rank of our Algoma list. Head to Manitouwadge, 61 km away, for anything you forgot. Further out sit Hornepayne (72 km) and Wawa (88 km). The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
Depth figures are not published for this one. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. County-wide records name walleye, northern pike and Iowa darter. The county list is broader than any single water. Anyone new to Lovedee Lake should walk it once before setting up.
The warmest month averages 16°C, the coldest about -18°C. Open water is the exception rather than the rule here. Count the season from break-up, usually early May. The lid tends to go about early May and return around mid November. Just after the ice goes and just before it returns, the fishing lifts. Keep it in mind when planning a trip to Lovedee Lake.
The access position is unclear from public sources. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Access is unmapped, which usually means a farm track and a walk. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. A phone call first saves an afternoon. Access can change hands, so last year's answer may not hold. Sole Lake, 4.2 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Treat access at Lovedee Lake as something to verify.
