No cloud to trap the day's warmth tonight, with a faint W drift and no real change in pressure. Most of the action on Clearwater Lake should come off the shaded margin through bright spells. Numbers are low everywhere; the night is the pick of them. Scale down and fish slowly. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

In Ontario, Clearwater Lake falls inside Algoma. The water sits 461 metres up. Surface area is around 17 hectares, which gives you real water without needing a boat. A shoreline of some 2.7 km keeps the choices simple. Compared with other Ontario water on our list, it sits high. Head to Manitouwadge, 67 km away, for anything you forgot. Thunder Bay sits 298 km out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. No border sits close enough to matter.
Depth is not on record here, so the bank has to tell you. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Across Algoma, recorded fish include walleye, northern pike, Iowa darter and yellow perch. Take it as the county picture rather than a promise for this water. Treat Clearwater Lake as a water to read rather than to cover.
Averages here run 16°C at the top of summer and -18°C at the bottom of winter. This far north the hard season runs and runs. Ice-out usually falls in early May, and the weeks after it fish hardest. Ice clears near early May and comes back about mid November in a typical year. Late spring and early autumn carry the year between them. On Clearwater Lake the same rules apply, with local timing.
Our records carry no access rule either way. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. Nothing formal is recorded here: no ramp, no car park, no marked path. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Where the road in crosses private land, ask first. Where tickets apply, they are sold in the nearest town rather than on the bank. Failing this one, try Rat Lake, 1.4 km away. Rules at Clearwater Lake are worth checking on the day.
