No cloud to trap the day's warmth tonight, with a light chop building from the WNW with a settled glass. The productive water at Longstone Lake will be around the weed line and any gaps in it. The useful hours run night into morning. Trust the forecast and stay out through the window. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Longstone Lake falls in Frontenac County, part of Ontario. The land about it is rolling bush. With some 11 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. Bank access stretches around 2.2 km in total. The nearest town is Sharbot Lake, 36 km away. Nepean sits 89 km out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. The boundary is close enough to be worth checking before you fish.
Nothing we hold settles how deep this runs. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. County-wide records name pumpkinseed, bluegill and rock bass. The county figures include rivers and lakes alike. At Longstone Lake the water rewards a slow, careful approach.
Expect July to average close to 19°C, with January the cold end at about -11°C. Seasons are distinct, and each one fishes differently. Expect a solid lid for months and a thaw around late April. On average, late April opens the water and early December closes it again. The strongest runs come at either end of the open season. On Longstone Lake the same rules apply, with local timing.
Nothing in our records says who may fish here. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. No made access appears within a short radius, so plan to park on a verge and walk. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Provincial rules still apply whatever the bank status. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. Egg Lake, 1 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Confirm before you fish Longstone Lake.
