Flat light and a covered sky today, with a proper ripple driven from the WNW with a settled glass. Activity on Little Sarsfield Lake should centre on the first drop-off and weed lines. A hard day on paper; the night edges the rest. Scale down and fish slowly. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Look for Little Sarsfield Lake in Timiskaming District, Ontario. The country here is rolling bush. With some 15 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. The whole outline is near 3.5 km, and most of it is walkable. Nearest place of any size is Kirkland Lake, 23 km away. The big place round here is Greater Sudbury, 192 km distant. It sits well inside its county, with no border complications.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. Reported across Timiskaming District: brook trout, northern pike and yellow perch. These are county-wide records, so not all of them will be in this water. On Little Sarsfield Lake the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
Temperature averages peak at 17°C in July and bottom out at -17°C in January. Hard water is a season in its own right here. After early May the shallows warm and the fish move up. Ice usually gives way near early May, and forms again about mid November. September and October fish steadily right up to the freeze. Plan around that when you fish Little Sarsfield Lake.
No access rule appears in what we hold. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Mapping is blank for access, so scout the approach before committing the car. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Where access is informal, keep it that way by behaving. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. Failing this one, try Ellis Lake, 2.8 km away. Confirm before you fish Little Sarsfield Lake.
