A wet system passing over today, with a light SSE breeze and pressure going nowhere. Most of the action on Little Juniper Lake should come off the seam between weed and open water. The day fishes best from the day. Fish confidently and change only when the bites stop. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Set in District Municipality of Muskoka, Little Juniper Lake is an Ontario water. Height above sea level is 209 metres. With some 17 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. You are looking at roughly 5.7 km of shoreline, with plenty of water between access points. By elevation it sits in the lower part of our Ontario listings. Nearest town is Parry Sound, 26 km off. For a city, Barrie is 85 km off. The boundary is close enough to be worth checking before you fish.
No depth figure has reached our records, which makes a plummet useful. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Public occurrence data for District Municipality of Muskoka names pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, northern pike, yellow perch and rock bass. County records show what lives in the area; the local agency holds the water-by-water list. At Little Juniper Lake light and wind decide more than tackle does.
Climate normals give 19°C for July and -9°C for January. The year splits cleanly: hard water, then open water. Count the season from break-up, usually mid April. On average, mid April opens the water and early December closes it again. Early summer and early autumn carry the open-water season. Keep it in mind when planning a trip to Little Juniper Lake.
There is no clear statement anywhere on who can fish it. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. There is no mapped parking or launch nearby, which keeps numbers down. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Rules for this water may differ from the county norm. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. Juniper Lake, 1.1 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Nothing here settles the position at Little Juniper Lake for certain.
