Landers Lake, Ontario: Fishing Spots and Seasons

• Overview

  Landers Lake is one of the Nipissing District waters in Ontario. Elevation runs to 421 metres. Roughly 1.07 sq km of surface: treat each bay as a water in its own right. Shoreline length is close to 9.8 km, and each section fishes a little differently. It ranks high for size among our Nipissing District listings. Temiskaming Shores is the closest town at 62 km. The big place round here is Greater Sudbury, 95 km distant. This one is safely inside the county line.

• Where to Fish on Landers Lake

  No depth figure has reached our records, which makes a plummet useful. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Records held for Nipissing District cover smallmouth bass, cisco, yellow perch, pumpkinseed and rock bass. What holds for the county may not hold for this water. Anyone new to Landers Lake should walk it once before setting up.

  The seasonal spread runs -16°C to 17°C. Four clear seasons, with a proper winter at one end. Ice fishing carries the winter, and the water opens about late April. On average, late April opens the water and mid November closes it again. The first weeks of open water and the last are the ones to plan for. It holds true on Landers Lake more years than not.
