Cloud from horizon to horizon today, with hardly a ripple anywhere and no real change in pressure. The water to cover at Keemle Lake is the seam between weed and open water. Little to get excited about, though the middle of the day holds a sliver of promise. Downsize everything and pick the calmest water.

Keemle Lake belongs to Thunder Bay District, Ontario. The setting is spruce and muskeg on every side. At 1.55 sq km this is proper open water rather than a pond. It is among the larger waters listed here for Thunder Bay District. The nearest place of any size is Nipigon, 32 km away. Thunder Bay is the closest city, 130 km away. It sits well inside its county, with no border complications.
Depth is not on record here, which means reading the ground instead. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Survey and observation records for Thunder Bay District include cisco, blackfin cisco, rainbow smelt and bloater. Those are county-wide records, so not every one of them will be in this water. On Keemle Lake the quiet end is the one worth the extra effort.
Typical July readings run about 16°C; by January the average is down near -18°C. The window is narrow, and fish feed hard while it lasts. The lid arrives early and lasts until roughly early May. Break-up sits around early May on average, with the water closing again about mid November. May into June fishes hardest, and September gives a second good stretch before the lid returns. Keemle Lake runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. Fishing from a pier is possible 880 m away. Keep the gear simple: light line, small hooks, split shot and a couple of proven lures. A landowner's word beats anything printed elsewhere. Some water is controlled locally without a sign saying so. Sinclair Lake at 1.8 km is the sensible second choice. None of that is settled for Keemle Lake in what we hold.
