A grey, even sky over the water, with next to no ripple and no real change in pressure. The water to cover at Horn Lake is the first drop-off and weed lines. The evening is where the day comes good. Change depth before you change anything else. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Horn Lake is a Parry Sound District water, in Ontario. Land around it is lake country bush. Roughly 5.99 sq km of surface: treat each bay as a water in its own right. The outline measures near 51 km, so a boat opens up water the bank never reaches. Few waters listed in Parry Sound District are bigger. Huntsville is the closest town at 30 km. Then Parry Sound, 35 km, and Bracebridge, 46 km. Rules can differ a short way off, since the county line is near.
Depth remains unrecorded, so treat the first session as a survey. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Species logged across Parry Sound District include smallmouth bass, pumpkinseed and yellow perch. Those are county-wide records, so not every one of them will be in this water. Horn Lake responds to conditions more than to tactics.
In an average year July sits at 18°C and January at -10°C. A full turn of seasons, with the strongest sport on either side of summer. Break-up comes around mid April, and the run that follows is short and strong. Average temperatures cross freezing around mid April in spring and again near early December in autumn. Spring is short and heavy here; autumn is longer and steadier. That is the shape of the year on Horn Lake.
Nothing on record says whether the bank is open or closed. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Access is unmapped, which usually means a farm track and a walk. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Parking is often the real limit rather than the bank itself. Access can change hands, so last year's answer may not hold. The nearest alternative is Cask Lake, 2.7 km out. None of that is settled for Horn Lake in what we hold.
