A wide-open sky and strong sun today, with a steady NW wind with a settled glass. Start the search at Green Lake along the margins and the shelf beyond them. The best of it runs morning through afternoon. Push the good hours hard and rest through the dead ones. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Green Lake belongs to Greater Sudbury, Ontario. The country round it is rolling bush from end to end. The water covers some 29 hectares, so pick a bank rather than trying to cover it all. The margin runs to about 5.2 km in total. Dowling lies 13 km from the water. Rayside-Balfour follows at 23 km, then Lively at 30 km. The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
Depth is unmeasured here, so let the shoreline guide you. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Across Greater Sudbury, recorded fish include smallmouth bass, yellow perch, northern pike, pumpkinseed and rock bass. Species recorded across the county may be limited to a few waters. The shape of Green Lake decides where the fish sit.
The year swings from about -13°C in January to roughly 18°C in July. Spring and autumn carry the fishing; summer and winter test it. After late April the shallows warm and the fish move up. Expect the water usable from around late April until roughly late November. Just after the ice goes and just before it returns, the fishing lifts. That shapes the year on Green Lake.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Mapping shows no built access close by; expect to walk in from wherever you can leave the car. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Provincial rules still apply whatever the bank status. Some water is controlled locally without a sign saying so. Cascaden Lake, 1.6 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Treat access at Green Lake as something to verify.
