A bright day with hardly any cloud, with enough W wind to stack food downwind with the glass holding level. Start the search at Granite Lake along the calm side of the wind. Expect the better fishing from the day. Give the likely spots time before moving. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Parry Sound District in Ontario is where Granite Lake sits. Land around it is mixed forest. About 9 hectares of surface, which puts the far bank inside easy sight. With 7.9 km or so of shoreline, boat anglers cover ground the bank cannot. On size it sits at the modest end of our Parry Sound District list. The closest town, Parry Sound, is 45 km away. South River is 64 km away, with Powassan at 74 km. No boundary runs near, so the local rules hold throughout.
Our records carry no depth, so judge it from the bank. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Across Parry Sound District, recorded fish include smallmouth bass, pumpkinseed, yellow perch and northern pike. The county list is broader than any single water. Read Granite Lake before you fish it and the day goes better.
The warmest month averages 19°C, the coldest about -10°C. The year runs cold to warm and back, with clear transitions. The open season starts with the thaw, near enough mid April. Going by climate averages, expect open water from about mid April until roughly early December. The middle of summer slows a little, with dawn and dusk carrying it. It holds true on Granite Lake more years than not.
The access position is unclear from public sources. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. No made access appears within a short radius, so plan to park on a verge and walk. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. Should this one be busy, Snowshoe Lake is 0.7 km off. Signs at Granite Lake carry more weight than any list.
