Bright moon and an empty sky tonight, with steady pressure of wind from the NW and pressure sitting still. On Gracie Lake, work the weed line and any gaps in it first. The useful hours run the day. Trust the forecast and stay out through the window. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Night
Gracie Lake is an Algoma water, Ontario side. The surface lies 409 metres up. At about 13 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. About 2.5 km of bank, so nothing stays unexplored for long. Most waters listed here for Algoma are larger. Thessalon sits 46 km from here and is the nearest stop. The big place round here is Greater Sudbury, 210 km distant. There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
Our records hold no depth for this water. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Public occurrence data for Algoma names walleye, northern pike, Iowa darter and yellow perch. Species recorded across the county may be limited to a few waters. The shape of Gracie Lake rewards a slow walk along one bank.
Temperature averages peak at 18°C in July and bottom out at -12°C in January. The year splits cleanly: hard water, then open water. Once it clears, about late April, the fishing comes on quickly. The season between ice runs from about late April to late November. From the thaw to midsummer the fishing improves week by week. Plan around that when you fish Gracie Lake.
No public source sets out the position on this bank. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Nothing built is recorded close to the bank here. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. Cassidy Lake sits 1.9 km off and takes the overflow. None of that is settled for Gracie Lake in what we hold.
