Cloud from horizon to horizon today, with a whisper of wind from the WNW and no real change in pressure. The productive water at Flossie Lake will be around points where shallow meets deep. The day holds up well from the day. Work the productive water thoroughly. Fish follow the bait in autumn, so find one to find the other.

Kenora District in Ontario is where Flossie Lake sits. Height above sea level is 370 metres. Around 99 hectares of surface means several distinct areas to work. Shoreline length is close to 6.3 km, and each section fishes a little differently. Head to Dryden, 69 km away, for anything you forgot. Further out sit Fort Frances (69 km) and International Falls (71 km). There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
Without a survey to go on, judge depth from how the bank falls away. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Kenora District records list northern pike, longnose sucker, white sucker and johnny darter among the fish reported. The county list is broader than any single water. The shape of Flossie Lake decides where the fish sit.
Climate normals give 19°C for July and -17°C for January. A full turn of seasons, with the strongest sport on either side of summer. Hard water holds through the cold months, breaking up near late April. Break-up near late April, freeze-up near mid November: that is the shape of an average year. May into June fishes hardest, and September gives a second good stretch before the lid returns. Anyone fishing Flossie Lake regularly works to that calendar.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. No made access appears within a short radius, so plan to park on a verge and walk. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. Where access is informal, keep it that way by behaving. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. If the gate is shut, Edward Lake at 1.4 km is the nearest alternative. Treat access at Flossie Lake as something to verify.
