Bright moon and an empty sky tonight, with a working WNW breeze with a settled glass. Give bays that hold the day's warmth the first hour at Duncannon Lake. Numbers are low everywhere; the night is the pick of them. Scale down and fish slowly. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Look for Duncannon Lake in Sudbury, Ontario. What surrounds it is boreal forest. Roughly 73 hectares: a morning covers one end, an afternoon the other. The edge covers about 7.8 km, enough to hold several distinct areas. It is high ground by Ontario standards. You are 9.4 km from Chapleau. Wawa follows at 101 km, then Timmins at 167 km. The nearest boundary is a fair way off.
Depth here is unknown, so count the lead down before committing. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Fish documented in Sudbury include smallmouth bass, northern pike and yellow perch. What holds for the county may not hold for this water. The near bank of Duncannon Lake is often the one people ignore.
Long-run averages give July about 16°C and January about -16°C. This is a two-season water: locked, then wide open. Ice is part of the season here, ending near early May. The season between ice runs from about early May to mid November. From the thaw to midsummer the fishing improves week by week. Duncannon Lake runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. There is no recorded infrastructure here; expect to find your own way in. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. A phone call first saves an afternoon. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. Jimmy Lake sits 4 km off and takes the overflow. Signs at Duncannon Lake carry more weight than any list.
