Not a cloud worth mentioning today, with almost no wind to speak of with a settled glass. Activity on Clear Lake should centre on shallow cover and weed edges. The best of it runs afternoon into evening. Small adjustments will matter more than big moves. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Look for Clear Lake in Algoma, Ontario. Height above sea level is 228 metres. The water covers some 51 hectares, so pick a bank rather than trying to cover it all. A shoreline of some 5.0 km keeps the choices simple. By elevation it sits in the lower part of our Ontario listings. Nearest town is Elliot Lake, 24 km off. After that come Blind River at 42 km and Little Current at 47 km. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
Without a survey to go on, judge depth from how the bank falls away. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Survey and observation records for Algoma include walleye, northern pike, Iowa darter, yellow perch and white sucker. It is the county picture; the agency list is water-specific. On Clear Lake that means starting tight and working out.
July is the warm end of the year here, averaging about 19°C, while January sits near -11°C. Expect a real winter and a strong spring after it. Firm cover through the cold months, then open water from mid April. Average temperatures cross freezing around mid April in spring and again near early December in autumn. From the thaw to midsummer the fishing improves week by week. Expect Clear Lake to follow that timing.
Access status is simply unknown for this water. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Nothing built is recorded close to the bank here. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. Signs go up and come down, so check on the day. Black Lake, 1.9 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Rules at Clear Lake are worth checking on the day.
