No direct sun expected today, with a kind W breeze on the water and no real change in pressure. Fish at Buff Lake should hold close to reed fringes and open pockets. If you must go, go in the evening. Save the long walk for a better forecast. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

Buff Lake lies in Timiskaming District, in Ontario. It sits at 401 metres above sea level. It measures about 11 hectares, which is a comfortable size for bank fishing. The bank runs about 1.9 km all the way round, so one visit can cover most of it. The closest town, Temiskaming Shores, is 53 km distant. Greater Sudbury is the closest city, 109 km away. There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
No published figure covers depth, so learn it as you fish. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Records held for Timiskaming District cover brook trout, northern pike, yellow perch, Iowa darter and walleye. Take it as the county picture rather than a promise for this water. Buff Lake fishes better once you know its edges.
Expect July near 17°C and January near -16°C on the long-run figures. Winter shuts the surface down for months. Hard cover is dependable here; it goes around late April. On the long-run averages the water opens up around late April and starts locking again about mid November. May into June fishes hardest, and September gives a second good stretch before the lid returns. Keep it in mind when planning a trip to Buff Lake.
The access position is unclear from public sources. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. Mapping shows an empty shoreline: no ramp, no jetty, no marked entry. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. A landowner's word beats anything printed elsewhere. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. Graymud Lake sits 0.9 km off and takes the overflow. What applies at Buff Lake may have changed since it was mapped.
