A hard blow across the water today, with enough SSW wind to stack food downwind with a settled glass. On Brewster's Lake, work bays that hold the day's warmth first. Expect the better fishing from night into morning. Give the likely spots time before moving. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

The Grey County end of Ontario holds Brewster's Lake. The water sits 505 metres up. With some 25 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. About 3.1 km of bank, so nothing stays unexplored for long. It sits higher than most water we list in Ontario. The closest town, Collingwood, is 17 km away. The nearest city of size is Barrie, 51 km away. Two sets of local rules meet not far from this water.
Depth is not on record here, which means reading the ground instead. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Fish documented in Grey County include Chinook salmon, rainbow trout and brook trout. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. Take Brewster's Lake a stretch at a time.
Typical July readings run about 18°C; by January the average is down near -9°C. Cold locks it up for a good stretch each year. Look for the thaw near mid April; the fishing lifts straight after. Open water usually runs from mid April until about early December. May into June fishes hardest, and September gives a second good stretch before the lid returns. On Brewster's Lake that shapes the whole year.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. Nothing in the way of made access shows up nearby: no ramp, no car park, no path. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Local rules can differ across the county line, so check where you stand. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. Failing this one, try Edward Lake, 5.1 km away. Ask locally about Brewster's Lake if anything is unclear.
