Gusty conditions over the water today, with a firm SE blow and pressure sitting still. Give sheltered bays and points the first hour at Beaver Lake. The day fishes best from the day. Pick two or three spots and rotate them. Fish follow the bait in autumn, so find one to find the other.

Beaver Lake is a Parry Sound District water, Ontario side. The surroundings are lake country bush. This is a pocket water of some 7 hectares, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. It is a small entry by Parry Sound District standards. 25 km away sits Parry Sound, the nearest town. Further out sit Penetanguishene (77 km) and Midland (81 km). Rules here are straightforward: one set of provincial rules.
There is no published depth for this one, so start shallow and work out. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Records held for Parry Sound District cover smallmouth bass, pumpkinseed, yellow perch, northern pike and rock bass. The county list is broader than any single water. Beaver Lake responds to conditions more than to tactics.
The range across the year is -7°C to 19°C. A full turn of seasons, with the strongest sport on either side of summer. Count the season from break-up, usually mid April. Ice usually gives way near mid April, and forms again about mid December. June through September is the settled part of the year, with the shoulders busier for fish. Plan any trip to Beaver Lake around it.
No public source sets out the position on this bank. There is a toilet block some 1.5 km out. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. Some ground is open by custom rather than by right, so tread carefully. Should this one be busy, Three Legged Lake is 0.5 km off. Treat Beaver Lake as unsettled until someone local tells you otherwise.
