A wide-open sky and strong sun today, with stillness over the whole water and steady pressure. Give windblown banks where food collects the first hour at Andrews Lake. The day holds up well from the day. Work the productive water thoroughly. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Sudbury, Ontario, is where Andrews Lake sits. The water sits 454 metres up. With some 33 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. Bank access stretches around 3.1 km in total. By elevation it is in the upper part of our Ontario listings. Chapleau at 33 km is the nearest place to stop. Wawa follows at 75 km, then Sault Ste. Marie at 144 km. No boundary runs near, so the local rules hold throughout.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Reported across Sudbury: smallmouth bass, northern pike, yellow perch and Iowa darter. What holds for the county may not hold for this water. Andrews Lake gives up more to patience than to distance.
The seasonal spread runs -15°C to 16°C. The freeze holds for the better part of the year. The freeze runs deep into the year, with break-up near late April. The lid tends to go about late April and return around mid November. Right after break-up, and again as the nights sharpen, is when to go. Andrews Lake runs to its own calendar within the local pattern.
Nothing we hold confirms whether access is permitted. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. The map shows no ramp or car park nearby, so this is a walk-in water. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Where a permit is needed, the nearest town usually sells it. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. The nearest alternative is Huff Lake, 1.6 km out. Treat Andrews Lake as unsettled until someone local tells you otherwise.
