Drifting cloud with clear gaps tonight, with enough SW wind to stack food downwind with the barometer flat. Give sheltered bays and points the first hour at Roosevelt Lake. A slow day overall; the evening is the best of a quiet lot. Lower the pace and stay patient. Biting air and slow fish: small baits, long pauses.

Night
Roosevelt Lake stands in Nunavut. The setting is spruce and muskeg. It measures some 6.60 sq km, and wind has room to build across it. Some 35 km of shoreline means conditions can differ from one end to the other. It is high ground by Nunavut standards. The closest town, Arviat, is 430 km away. After that come Thompson at 532 km and Pelican Narrows at 552 km. No county line comes close, which keeps the paperwork simple.
Depth is not on record here, so the bank has to tell you. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. The near bank of Roosevelt Lake is often the one people ignore. Cover your ground slowly and you will find the productive stretch.
Between January at about -28°C and July at about 14°C, the water has a wide range to work through. The fishing year opens late and shuts early. Count the season from break-up, usually early June. Averages suggest open water from about early June through to roughly mid October. Spring is short and heavy here; autumn is longer and steadier. Roosevelt Lake fishes to that pattern most years.
No access rule appears in what we hold. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. Public mapping records no formal access here, so plan for a walk and soft ground. Where access is informal, keep it that way by behaving. Some water is controlled locally without a sign saying so. If the gate is shut, Wakula Lake at 19 km is the nearest alternative. Check the position at Roosevelt Lake before loading the car.
