A grey, even sky over the water, with a helpful ripple pushed from the NW with a settled glass. Fish at Tanuck Lake should hold close to shallow cover and weed edges. The strongest window runs from afternoon into evening. Stay mobile and follow the activity. A hard-frost feel to the day; keep expectations modest.

Tanuck Lake lies in in Manitoba. The setting is spruce and muskeg on every side. This is sizeable water at about 3.19 sq km, and a boat opens up most of it. Arviat is the closest place, 449 km off. Saskatoon is the closest city, 916 km away. Close by you also have: 2 km out stands MacNicol Lake, Curphey Lake lies 2.5 km on, 2.8 km out stands Hooey Lake, Wakula Lake lies 5.5 km on and 5.8 km out stands Hasbala Lake. There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
There is no published depth for this one, so start shallow and work out. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Read Tanuck Lake for ten minutes before the first cast goes out. Approach from downwind so your line does not land ahead of you.
Temperature averages peak at 14°C in July and bottom out at -28°C in January. Water stays cold even at the height of the year. The lid usually sets by midwinter and gives way around early June. Expect the water usable from around early June until roughly mid October. Reckon on open water from spring through to late autumn, with May and June the strongest. It sets the rhythm of the year at Tanuck Lake.
The access position is unclear from public sources. No car park, ramp or path is recorded within easy reach of the shore. Parking is often the real limit rather than the bank itself. Signs go up and come down, so check on the day. MacNicol Lake at 2 km is the sensible second choice. None of that is settled for Tanuck Lake in what we hold.
