Heavy overcast holding through the day, with mild air moving in from the SE and no real change in pressure. The productive water at North Twin Lake will be around structure within a cast of the bank. The productive run goes afternoon into evening. Start on the obvious water and expand from there.

North Twin Lake is a Kings County water, in Nova Scotia. The surface lies 207 metres up. The water covers some 17 hectares, so pick a bank rather than trying to cover it all. Shoreline comes to about 3.0 km, small enough to learn in a day. It is high ground by Nova Scotia standards. The town to know is Greenwood, 21 km out. The big place round here is Dartmouth, 93 km distant. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
We hold no depth figure for this one. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Across Kings County, recorded fish include Atlantic salmon, striped bass and brook trout. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. North Twin Lake gives up its fish to patience rather than distance.
Expect July near 18°C and January near -6°C on the long-run figures. A solid cap is the normal state through winter. After mid April the shallows warm and the fish move up. The open-water window runs from around mid April to about mid December in an average year. The strong weeks are the first after break-up and the last before the freeze. North Twin Lake runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
Our records carry no access rule either way. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. There is no mapped parking or launch close by, which usually means walking in. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Local rules can differ across the county line, so check where you stand. Some water is controlled locally without a sign saying so. Should this one be busy, Mud Lake is 1.3 km off. Ask locally about North Twin Lake if anything is unclear.
