No direct sun expected today, with a gentle ripple from the ESE and pressure sitting still. On North Lake, work shallow cover and weed edges first. The day peaks in the evening. Push the good hours hard and rest through the dead ones. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

North Lake lies in Guysborough County, in Nova Scotia. Everything around it is lake country bush. This is a pocket water of some 7 hectares, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. For supplies, Stellarton is 42 km out. For a city, Dartmouth is 102 km off. Within a short run: Alex Lake (1.4 km), Barren Lake within 1.7 km, MacDonald Lake (2.2 km), Round Lake within 2.4 km and Princess Pine Lake (3.2 km). No boundary runs near, so the local rules hold throughout.
The records we hold are silent on depth, so plan to find it yourself. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Fish documented in Guysborough County include alewife, American eel and brook trout. Protected fish appear in the records for this area, so treat the list as information, not an invitation. On North Lake a short move beats a long cast.
Temperature averages peak at 18°C in August and bottom out at -7°C in January. Winter shuts things down for a spell, then spring reopens them fast. The lid usually sets by midwinter and gives way around late April. The lid tends to go about late April and return around mid December. From the thaw to midsummer the fishing improves week by week. It sets the rhythm of the year at North Lake.
Our records carry no access rule either way. Nothing is mapped in the way of a ramp or car park within a short radius. For the trout, small spinners and a box of nymphs cover both approaches. Rules for this water may differ from the county norm. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. Alex Lake at 1.4 km is the sensible second choice. Treat access at North Lake as something to verify.
