No direct sun expected today, with a gentle ripple from the SSW and no real change in pressure. Start the search at Lewis Lake along shallow cover and weed edges. Plan around the stretch from night into morning. Keep moving until you find them. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Lewis Lake stands in Halifax Regional Municipality, Nova Scotia. Salt water lies 15 km off. With some 22 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. The whole outline is near 2.7 km, and most of it is walkable. The town to know is Upper Sackville, 1.3 km out. Beyond it, Springfield Lake at 2.7 km and Beaver Bank at 7.4 km. Being near a boundary, it pays to know which side you are fishing.
Depth is not on record here, so the bank has to tell you. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Halifax Regional Municipality records list brook trout, alewife, rainbow smelt, American eel and Atlantic salmon among the fish reported. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. Lewis Lake gives up its fish to patience rather than distance.
Long-term averages put August at about 18°C and January near -6°C. Cold winters and warm summers give a wide working range. The lid arrives early and lasts until roughly mid April. Going by climate averages, expect open water from about mid April until roughly mid December. The open run goes from the thaw to the freeze, and April through October covers most of it. It sets the rhythm of the year at Lewis Lake.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. We find no slipway, car park or made path within a short radius, so treat access as rough. For the trout, small spinners and a box of nymphs cover both approaches. Rules differ from one water to the next round here. Keep proof of licence with you rather than in the car. Yellow Lily Lake at 2.7 km is the sensible second choice. Nothing on Lewis Lake should be assumed from this page alone.
