An even grey lid over the water, with a light chop building from the ESE and pressure going nowhere. Most of the action on Killams Lake should come off inflow corners and shaded margins. Expect the better fishing from the day. Give the likely spots time before moving. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Look for Killams Lake in the Yarmouth County part of Nova Scotia. The bank is 30 metres above sea level. Surface area runs to roughly 1.24 sq km, so plan for one area rather than the whole. The margin runs to about 9.9 km in total. Few waters listed in Yarmouth County are bigger. Yarmouth lies 19 km from the water. Barrington is 64 km and Shelburne 66 km. The boundary is close enough to be worth checking before you fish.
We hold no survey for this water; read the slope of the shoreline instead. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Records held for Yarmouth County cover American eel, yellow perch and Atlantic salmon. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. Take Killams Lake a stretch at a time.
Typical August readings run about 17°C; by February the average is down near -4°C. Winter closes the water for a while, and the reopening is worth catching. Winter fishing happens on the ice here, with open water back around early April. Break-up sits around early April on average, with the water closing again about late December. Right after break-up, and again as the nights sharpen, is when to go. Killams Lake fishes to that pattern most years.
Nothing we hold confirms whether access is permitted. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. There is a jetty 1.3 km off, worth knowing on a busy day. For the trout, small spinners and a box of nymphs cover both approaches. Take the rules with you rather than trusting memory. Where the way in crosses private ground, ask first. Should this one be busy, Mud Lake is 1.6 km off. Rules at Killams Lake are worth checking on the day.
