Solid cloud cover today, with light air out of the SW with the glass holding level. Activity on East Stoney Lake should centre on the seam between weed and open water. Everything points to the middle of the day. Give the likely spots time before moving. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Night
Set in Annapolis County, East Stoney Lake is a Nova Scotia water. Mixed forest runs right down to the water. At about 30 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. The edge runs 3.2 km or so, easy to work in an afternoon. By elevation it is in the upper part of our Nova Scotia listings. The closest town, Middleton, is 38 km distant. After that come Digby at 42 km and Greenwood at 46 km. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
Depth remains unrecorded, so treat the first session as a survey. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Across Annapolis County, recorded fish include alewife, Atlantic salmon and chain pickerel. Some of the species recorded here are protected or tightly regulated, so check what may be targeted before you fish. At East Stoney Lake light and wind decide more than tackle does.
Expect July to average close to 18°C, with January the cold end at about -6°C. The year runs cold to warm and back, with clear transitions. The open season starts with the thaw, near enough mid April. Climate figures give an open season running mid April to mid December. From the thaw to midsummer the fishing improves week by week. East Stoney Lake runs to its own calendar within the local pattern.
The paperwork position is blank for this one. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. The map shows no ramp or car park nearby, so this is a walk-in water. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Check whether a boat is allowed before you tow one. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. Upper Hoyt Lake sits 1.6 km off and takes the overflow. What applies at East Stoney Lake may have changed since it was mapped.
