A closed sky with even light today, with an easy breeze from the S and no real change in pressure. Start the search at Redrock Lake along points where shallow meets deep. The numbers single out the middle of the day. Keep moving until you find them. The cold will pin fish to deeper, stable water.

Redrock Lake is a North Slave Region water, Northwest Territories side. Height above sea level is 469 metres. Compared with other Northwest Territories water on our list, it sits high. Kugluktuk is the closest place, 266 km off. The big place round here is Edmonton, 1326 km distant. Within easy reach: Odjick Lake roughly 14 km, Max Ward Lake at 21 km, Rocknest Lake roughly 23 km, Parent Lake at 26 km and Morel Lake roughly 30 km. The nearest boundary is a fair way off.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Reported across North Slave Region: Arctic grayling, lake trout and slimy sculpin. County records show what lives in the area; the local agency holds the water-by-water list. At Redrock Lake the water rewards a slow, careful approach.
The seasonal spread runs -30°C to 12°C. Cold dominates the year and the fishing works around it. The open season starts with the thaw, near enough mid June. Climate averages put the opening at about mid June and the closing near early October. Look to early summer and the first cool weeks of autumn. Anyone fishing Redrock Lake regularly works to that calendar.
Public sources are silent on who controls the bank. There is no mapped parking or launch nearby, which keeps numbers down. For the trout, small spinners and a box of nymphs cover both approaches. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. Some ground is open by custom rather than by right, so tread carefully. Should this one be busy, Odjick Lake is 14 km off.
