Fog sitting on the water this morning, with a helpful ripple pushed from the WSW and no real change in pressure. Give the calm side of the wind the first hour at A Lake. Little to get excited about, though the evening holds a sliver of promise. One good spot fished well beats five fished quickly.

Night
The Charlotte County end of New Brunswick holds A Lake. The sea is 28 km distant. At about 42 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. With about 3.8 km of edge, you can try several depths in one session. The nearest place of any size is Grand Bay-Westfield, 25 km away. The nearest city of size is Dartmouth, 248 km away. The boundary is near enough that local access rules are worth double-checking.
There is no published depth for this one, so start shallow and work out. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Species logged across Charlotte County include Atlantic salmon, alewife and rainbow smelt. Protected fish appear in the records for this area, so treat the list as information, not an invitation. The near bank of A Lake is often the one people ignore.
The seasonal spread runs -10°C to 18°C. The middle months are generous; the ends are demanding. Look for the thaw near mid April; the fishing lifts straight after. From about mid April to around early December, expect open water on the long-run figures. Reckon on open water from spring through to late autumn, with May and June the strongest. Expect A Lake to follow that timing.
Our records carry no access rule either way. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Nothing is listed nearby for parking or launching a boat. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Parking is often the real limit rather than the bank itself. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. For a change of water, East Long Lake is 2.6 km distant. The position on A Lake is worth confirming on the day.
